With a resolution passed Tuesday, Tompkins County legislators are urging Gov.

Legislator Anna Kelles, who worked on the resolution, said the bill being considered are not intended fix anything about immigration on a federal level, but is specifically designed to improve road safety.

Jayapal was surrounded by more than 100 supporters, many from groups such as National Nurses United, the Center for Popular Democracy, Our Revolution, Coalition of Labor Union Women, and the Labor Campaign for Single Payer.

The effort is backed by the Organization United for Respect, which has a history of organizing Walmart employees, and the liberal advocacy group Center for Popular Democracy.
