Affiliates in the CPD Network have decades of experience winning progressive policy reform and passing progressive legislation at the local and state level. By working together with CPD, we have the power to pass expansive and far-reaching policies that directly impact hundreds of millions of people across the U.S.

Our federal advocacy department advances just policies on immigration, housing, education, criminal injustice, civil rights, voting rights, and healthcare. 

How we work:

• We approach federal advocacy as organizers. We prioritize bringing people to directly speak their truth to those in power.

• We refuse to operate within the framework of what is possible in the moment. As we’ve developed and won our policy at the local and state level, we’ve learned that organizing expands the limits of possibility.

• We use all of the tools in the advocacy tool box. We combine strategic research with deep and expansive organizing, legal analysis and expertise, lobbying and direct action.
