Fed Chair Yellen Meets with "Fed Up" Coalition

Tomorrow: "Fed Up" Coalition Meets with Fed Chair Yellen to Push for Full Employment, Higher Wages, and Public Process
November 13, 2014, Washington, D.C. – A broad coalition of 20 community organizations, faith leaders, policy experts, and labor unions from across the country will meet with Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen tomorrow, as reported in a New York Times exclusive earlier this week. The coalition will hold a press conference in advance of the meeting with Chair Yellen tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. on the north side Constitution Avenue, between 20th and 21st Streets NW.
The coalition will announce the launch of “Fed Up: The National Campaign for a Strong Economy” and make public its principles for Federal Reserve reform. The historic campaign marks first time in decades that workers and community organizations are making a coordinated effort to influence Fed monetary policy, which is normally subject to influence only by banks and corporations. Speakers will present personal stories of struggle in the economy, an agenda for substantive and procedural reforms at the Fed, and a political analysis of the debates going on within the Fed.
