2018-2019 Year In Review

The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) is at the forefront of the national movement to challenge racism and inequality.

We are a network of state-based people’s organizations, and we partner with progressive elected officials, allies and individuals to advance pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice policies, and build a world where everyone has the freedom to thrive.

In 2018 and 2019, our communities faced incredible hardship. The Trump Administration and its allies terrorized immigrant families, shred the social safety net, imperiled the planet, criminalized Black and Brown people, and gave huge tax and regulatory breaks to powerful corporations. All the while, working Americans struggled to afford basic healthcare, education, housing, and clean air and water, and Black and Brown communities struggled with new levels of racism and attacks.

In the face of these threats, the CPD Network is organizing and mobilizing those most impacted by inequity, securing dozens of highimpact policy victories nationwide and tangibly improving the lives of millions of people. In the process, we are building power for our communities, strengthening the progressive movement and our democracy.

Our work shows what is possible when we aggressively pursue justice together.
