Center for Popular Democracy Dismisses Trump’s Call for Higher Wages
Republican candidate favors raising federal mínimum wage to $10 an hour
07.27.2016
NEW YORK – After months of saying wages were "too high", Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump has come out in favor of raising the federal minimum wage to $10 an hour. He made the comments to Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.
JoEllen Chernow, who leads the minimum wage campaign at Center for Popular Democracy, released the following statement in response:
"New York and California have already raised their minimum wages to $15, and the Democratic Party platform calls for a federal minimum wage of $15. Donald Trump is not only showing up hours late to a party well underway, but coming empty-handed. Ten dollars an hour? No thanks, we've moved way past that," said JoEllen Chernow, who directs the minimum wage campaign at CPD."
