Center for Popular Democracy Responds to Green New Deal Resolution Vote
“Our Senators and elected representatives must take the bold action that we need to build a resilient future for our planet.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to the Senate vote today on the Green New Deal, the Center for Popular Democracy released the following statement from Dianne Enriquez, Co-Director of Community Dignity Programs:
“Our climate crisis is too great for half-measures or sham votes. But this is exactly what happened today. Instead of taking our climate crisis seriously and responding in kind, today Senators voted against the Green New Deal resolution. Many chose to prioritize the money that they get from oil and energy companies over the future of our communities and our planet. Luckily, there will be future votes. This is just the beginning for the Green New Deal. Moving forward, our Senators and elected representatives must take the bold action that we need to build a resilient future for our planet.”
