Organize Florida is a progressive, community-based organization engaged in and committed to building power to effect change in times of injustice, maintain and protect our existing rights in the state of Florida whenever and wherever injustices are being committed or civil rights are being infringed upon.

The Organize Florida Education Fund is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that both trains and develops leaders and organizes families in low-to moderate-income communities in Florida. Our vision is for these communities to become critically engaged in the political system in order to create a more just and equitable society.


Organize Florida is seeking to hire a full-time Organizing Director, Orlando to manage Organize Florida's work across issues and strategic campaigns in the Orlando region. The Organizing Director is responsible for all aspects of a sophisticated organizing program that includes member-based issue campaigns, electoral work and political leadership, and overall civic engagement work. The Organizing Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Sr. Vice President, Community Organizers and other key leaders within the organization and community to both build and implement Organize Florida campaign activities. This position also serves on the organizations Core Leadership Team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support and mentor Community Organizers to promote their individual and collective growth and success.

  • Support Community Organizers to implement multiple large-scale public events, running issue committees and membership planning meetings.

  • Support robust leadership development programming for Organize Florida members.

  • Coordinate a suite of organizer trainings for Organize Florida staff and member leaders.

  • Support the statewide expansion of Organize Florida’s base of active leaders.

  • Coordinate efforts to build Organize Florida’s membership and base-building canvass.

  • Recommend results-driven changes to campaigns as needed.

  • Support the production of earned media and social media in service of campaign objectives.

  • Manage and analyze campaign data and tracking under the guidance of the Executive Director and Sr. Vice President/Managing Director

  • Work with the Organizing staff to strategize/power-map campaigns, and write detailed organizing plans, field plans, and campaign plans.

  • Identify opportunities to grow authentic political power in the Orlando communities of color.


  • At least three to five years of experience with voter engagement, electoral campaigns, power-mapping, issue-based campaigns, community organizing, civic engagement strategy, and leadership development.

  • Two to three years of management and/or supervision experience within a grassroots community organization.

  • At least two years of experience as a community-organizing trainer and/or electoral organizing trainer.

  • Knowledge of data and tracking systems within community-based and electoral organizing, including knowledge of VAN.

  • Familiarity with Florida’s political landscape and electoral/legislative process.

  • Demonstrated experience working within low-income communities of color.

  • Ability to work in multi-cultural, multi-gendered, multi-sexed, and multi-racial settings.

  • Ability to deliver both numbers-based and leadership-based results in a fast-paced and self-directed environment.

  • Superior judgment and maturity. Ability to manage long-term, short-term, medium-term, and overall movement building campaigns.

  • Experience and working knowledge of New Media tools, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, petition vehicles, and video production.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Brings empathy, passion, and humor to the work.
