The Organize Florida Education Fund is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that both trains and develops leaders and organizes families in low-to moderate-income communities in Florida. Our vision is for these communities to become critically engaged in the political system in order to create a more just and equitable society.

Opportunity

Organize Florida seeks a highly motivated, talented and dynamic individual to serve as the Human Resources Director. Along with the Sr. Vice President & Managing Director the Human Resources Director is responsible to ensure that all human resources (HR) operations are carried out smoothly and effectively. This position will be responsible for developing HR strategies and providing sound advice to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on all related subjects. The Human Resources Director must be an experienced professional with deep knowledge of all matters concerning the HR department. The position should be able to manage programs and lead staff while also possessing a strong strategic mindset.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop organizational plans for a variety of HR matters such as compensation, benefits, health and safety, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Vice President & Managing Director to support the human potential factor in the organization by devising strategies for performance evaluation, staffing, training and development
  • Oversee all HR initiatives, systems and tactics
  • Supervise the work of HR personnel and provide guidance (if applicable)
  • Serve as the point of contact for employment relations
  • Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards
  • Deal with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required
  • Anticipate and resolve litigation risks
  • Inform the Sr. Vice President & Managing Director and/or the Executive Director on large HR updates, concerns and needs
  • Give bi-monthly reports to the Senior Leadership Team by analyzing data and using HR metrics.

Key Qualifications

We are seeking a seasoned social justice leader with strong references who is interested in growing the organization into a credible powerhouse organization in the state and nationally. A successful candidate must believe in the core values of Organize Florida and be driven by its mission. The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of string and relevant human resources experience with expert writing and communication skill. Candidates should also have:

  • A demonstrated commitment and understanding of issues facing low income communities, minority communities, women, LGBTQ communities, low-wage workers, immigrant communities and other impacted communities
  • 3 - 5 years of proven experience in human resources; Certifications in the human resources field
  • Comfort with the implementation of a range of organizing strategies and tactics
  • Full understanding of the way an organization operates to meet its objectives
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
  • Attention to the human potential element
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Diligent and firm with high ethical standards
  • Self-motivated and a proven ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations
  • Dedication and ability to work flexible hours
  • Spanish/English bilingual preferred but not required.
