Director - Make the Road Pennsylvania

Summary: Make the Road and the Center for Popular Democracy seek a motivated and talented Director for Make the Road Pennsylvania.

Location: This person can be based in Philadelphia, Allentown, or Reading, PA, but will need to travel to all three organizing centers on a regular basis.

Organizational Description: Make the Road PA (MRPA) was launched in 2014 and, over the last few years, has quickly become one of the largest Latinx organizations in the state of Pennsylvania. MRPA now runs three robust organizing centers, in Reading, Allentown and Philadelphia. We have a strong, engaged membership base of poor and working class people, primarily in Latinx communities. We have a strong track record of local and state campaigns, large-scale mobilizations on federal issues, large-scale civic engagement work, and active leadership among key progressive organizing groups, coalitions, and tables across the state. MRPA is hosted by the Center for Popular Democracy.

Center for Popular Democracy: The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) builds organizing power and transforms the local, state, and national policy landscape through deep, long-term partnerships with leading community organizing groups and labor unions nationwide. CPD collaborates with partners to build their internal strength, infrastructure and capacity – and to envision, run, and win campaigns to move a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial justice agenda at the city and state level.

Make the Road: The Make the Road family of organizations builds the power of Latino and working-class communities to achieve dignity and justice through organizing, policy innovation, transformative education, and survival services. The anchor organization, Make the Road New York, has more than 23,000 members and operates five community centers across New York, where it has worked for more than 20 years. Make the Road has successfully replicated its model in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Nevada, where new state level organizations are building active memberships and playing critical leadership roles in the organizing and policy landscape.

Make the Road Action partners with the Make the Road NY, PA, CT, NJ and NV to build political power rooted in immigrant communities and working-class communities of color, promotes policy solutions that improve the lives of everyone, and strengthens the movement for justice through electoral and grassroots organizing to advance progressive political and policy change.
