About the Position:

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA) is seeking a full-time Associate Grants Manager, who will report to the Senior Grants Manager and be a key part of the team ensuring that CPD & CPDA is accurately capturing, allocating, and tracking all sources of revenue, with a particular focus on managing revenue from major institutional donors.  This position is within the Development Team and works closely with our Finance Team to ensure an accurate budget and projected financials.  The right candidate will be very detailed oriented and skilled at systems, adept at juggling various types of work, able to work across diverse teams and workstyles, and excited to help the organizations identify, design, implement and administer systems that make our work flow more efficiently. An ideal candidate will care deeply about the mission, and be interested in both how organizations raise revenue (development side) as well as how they budget and track expenses (finance side).  This is a newly-created position, and we are looking for someone who is eager to jump in to help cover unmet needs, develop this role within a growing Development Team, and evolve with the role and the Team.

Primary Responsibilities

The Associate Grants Manager will:

  • Support the Senior Grants Manager in all aspects of managing revenue information in our system, including: tracking the status/stage of anticipated revenue, checking proper allocation of revenue to the program and over time, ensuring all necessary paperwork is properly saved, and answering questions from program staff related to revenue.

  • Manage receipt, deposit and acknowledgement of institutional donations and confirmation of donation details. As time allows, managing major individual donor acknowledgement letters.

  • Produce regular reports for program staff to review and correct revenue-side data.

  • Help manage anticipated and past-due revenue and help manage process for rapid disbursement situations.

  • Support the Senior Grants Manager on our fiscal sponsorship and hosted project programs.

  • Support the Senior Grants Manager on monitoring our field resource program, including direct subgrants to the field and leveraging other resources directly to field partners.

  • Support the Development Team and Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Team for rapid response c3 and c4 donor solicitation, including ensuring that new systems sync with existing ones.

  • Other special projects & responsibilities as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Applicants should possess an interest in fundraising and a commitment to social justice with the desire to grow within the department. Administrative and database experience is a plus. CPD and CPDA are large, complex, multi-faceted organizations, and this position requires flexibility, a positive attitude, and an ability to deal with many tasks and prioritize while being on top of the details.

  • Work effectively on a tight schedule and be able to set and meet realistic deadlines

  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Be highly professional, a team player, and a self-starter with extremely strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Show a passion for excellence and eagerness to help the department meet our goals

  • Possess the ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and perform assigned duties with modest supervision in a fast-paced environment  

  • Skill at working across multiple infrastructure and programmatic teams, with staff spread across the country, to meet goals

  • A sense of humor and ability to work under pressure required

  • Have facility with spreadsheets, Microsoft Office suite, database management (ideally Salesforce) to run reports. Knowledge of budgeting basics a plus but not required.

  • Ideally, have experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic work environment

  • Possess a commitment to racial equity, social justice, and community organizing and see how development work is a core piece of furthering this mission-driven work

The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
